Grades 7-8: Week of 11/13/23

In Social Studies, we continued our study of the Civil War, discussing the importance of the Emancipation Proclamation, and the dilemmas Lincoln faced. We also talked about modern warfare and how technology affected the conflict.

For Science, students participated in their first Physics Friday! They examined dozens of eggs and graphed their weights. They will do it again in a few weeks to note changes related to time. For now it’s clear, few eggs in a dozen are eggzactly the same!

Our weekly discussion in Civics revolved around the primary system of the two parties, though the conversation was largely away from Iowa and New Hampshire and centered on the oddities of 2024: an older president who is the presumptive nominee and a former president, only three years younger, who is facing trials in court. Students have many questions we will only discover through time.

In Art, the students worked on Ezra t-shirt designs.

In Music, we had theory worksheets and started working on singing and posture in preparation for the Chanukah Production. Our performer was Lital who sang a song, and our Mimi Award winner was Eleanor!
