Grades 3-4: Week of 2/5/24

In Reading, the students in both classes have been looking at identifying the main idea of a text, as well as finding three details from the story that support it. I invite you to continue practicing this skill at home with your child when reading a book, watching a movie, or even listening to a song.

In Science, 3rd Grade students learned the difference between a typhoon and a hurricane in their study of extreme weather. 4th Grade students studied animal structures and examined how animals move. Ask them why their elbow joint is like a door.

In Art, in honor of Black History month the students learned about the artist Alma Woodsey Thomas and started a painting in her style.

In Music, we learned about Orchestras and started playing Orchestra bingo to work on identifying instruments. Our performers were Zippy and Sasha on the piano and our Mimi Award Winners were Will, Rebecca, and Sasha.

In Judaics we learned some rules from Parshat Mishpatim, and we discussed how they might connect to the Ten Commandments. In Hebrew we are growing our vocabulary, each class following their textbook’s topic, and in general, we also started to learn how to phrase questions.
