Grades 7-8: Week of 3/4/24

In Social Studies, students learned about 1945 and the many events that influenced the end of the war in Europe. Among topics we discussed: Dresden, Yalta, the Battle of the Bulge, and most critically, D-Day.

In Language Arts, we are starting chapter 8 in Animal Farm. Students didn’t like chapter 7 because Napoleon shows his true cruelty.

In Science, we used a Van de Graff Generator to create static electricity on a dry, sunny day.

In Civics, class was spent largely discussing courage in the classroom when it comes to political views. Students filled out an anonymous survey, not about their views, but about how open they feel they can be about their views. Results were actually encouraging, with some interesting highlights we later discussed.

In Judaics, we are reading the Megillah and working on our readings for March 25th when we are celebrating at school.

This week in Art, the students finished their landscape paintings.

This week in Music, we continued with our student music presentations! Dan, Aaron, & Raphael presented on The Future of Music and created an AI assisted rap with voice changing software. Hadassah and Ruthie presented on Eurovision and had the class participate in a fun facts bingo game that they created! Currently we are in the middle of Max & Teddy presenting on the music history of Switzerland. We also had a magic performance by Aaron, and our Mimi Award Winners were Gabby & Lital!
