Grades 7-8: Week of 2/26/24

Students in Social Studies continued dissecting the Second World War, specifically focusing this week on Pearl Harbor, the aftermath, including the internment of Japanese Americans, and the mid-war years of 1942 and 1943. Stalingrad, island-hopping, and the American home front were in focus.

Your student may exclaim “Your epidermis is showing” as we began the study of the integumentary system in Science Class.

In Language Arts, we worked on Animal Farm and are finishing chapter 7. We also introduced the biography project, and students chose different biographies to read. Ask your student who they chose.

Students in Civics discussed strategies to be brave and heard in their views, but also remain open and friendly as they get older and become more aware of the world.

In Judaics, we had conversations about Israel this week. We also discussed and gave out parts for the reading of Megillat Esther.

This week in Art, the students finished their Venetian masks.

This week in Music, we started presentations! They are presenting in groups, and were allowed to choose any topic related to music that they were interested in learning more about. Our first presentation was given by Toyba and Tamar on the music of the 90s, and our second presentation was given by Gabby and Eleanor on Nicki Manaj.
