Grades 5-6: Week of 3/4/24

In Language Arts, we are working on our expository theme essays. Also, we have returned to the vocabulary book. Each week we have been sharing one of our creative writing pieces with the class. This week was Cora’s turn.

In Judaics, we are reading the Megillah and doing some close reading of the text.

In Geo-History, students heard information about the Second World War and the era during group presentations. Many questions were asked, and we didn’t rush, knowing we have as much time as we need to understand the basics of this event in a European history context.

This week in Art, in honor of Women’s History Month the students learned about the artist Bridget Riley and Op Art. They then started to create their own Op Art drawing. Ask them what Op Art stands for.

This week in Music, we continued learning about famous Jewish musicians through student presentations! Ben & Eli presented on Billy Joel, and Zevi & Benny presented on George Gershwin. Our performer was Zevi on the piano, and our Mimi Award winners were Lavi & Sasha!
