Grades 5-6: Week of 11/6/23

In Geo-History, students continued working with basic concepts of economics. Students reviewed the most basic terms and worked with a news article to apply the ideas. Students also learned about Election Day, and why it’s a Tuesday, and about Veterans’ Day. Students attended two guest speaker events in honor of the day: a navy and air force veteran.

5-6th grade science students are completing the owl pellet unit. Some pellets yielded evidence for 7 different animals! Students are reconsidering (and writing about) their first impressions of their owl pellet and whether these have changed (or not).

In Math, 5th grade students worked on order of operations and mental math calculations. 6th grade students completed the decimal unit.

This week in Art, the students finished their “about myself” letter art.

This week in Music was instrument week and we divided into groups to make four measures of rhythms and then did drum circles to perform them! Our performer was Benny on the piano and our Mimi Award winners were Sasha and Alona!
