Grades 3-4: Week of 1/8/24

In Math, 3rd graders reviewed fact families for tables 2 to 5.  They also learned how to display their multiplication sentences in an array. While 4th graders worked on multiplying and dividing 4 digit numbers by a 1 digit number, as well as word problems involving all 4 operations.

This week in Science, 3rd graders started to learn about EXTREME weather. While the teacher is hoping to miss most of it this winter, the students would not mind some real snowfall.

The 4th grade considered the human skeleton in relation to a plant’s stem or tree’s trunk. All of these are supportive structures. But, only the skeleton can be arranged in interesting poses (which students did with their cut-out skeletal compositions).

This week in Art, we used different materials to create multi-media snowpeople. Ask what materials we used!

In Music, this week was a study week for the upcoming music test that the students have next Thursday. Mira and Daniella performed on the piano, and Rebecca and Riley performed on the drums. We had Zippy, Sasha, and Shlomit as Mimi Award Winners!

In Judaics we learned Parshat Vayera. As usual, we heard the story, watched the video, and had good discussions about it.

In Hebrew, we are learning vocabulary about the order of the day, so we can add this topic to our warmup conversations. We also (finally) started the program “Chaverim B’Ivrit”. Each grade is learning a different book with a different topic. 3rd grade is learning about “me and my family” and 4th about “going on a trip.”
