Paper Plate Soccer Ball:
Materials Needed:
Paper plate
Black construction paper
White crayon
Scissors
Glue

Have your child draw multiple hexagon patterns on the black construction paper with the white crayon. If your child cannot draw a hexagon, draw it for him or her. Next, have your child cut the hexagons out with the scissors. Finally, have your child glue the hexagons onto the paper plate to make a “soccer ball"

 

Practice writing letter sounds: l, b, iFor children new at this, use a blank piece of paper.  Write an 'l' (lower case L) on a paper, slowly demonstrating for your child and say the sound.  Then have your child practice writing the letter while saying the sound.  If your child is more practiced in letter writing, draw a line at the top of the page and one a few inches below (use a ruler) and invite your child to write an 'l' and continue multiple times. The next sound to practice today is 'b' and then 'i'. Again, on a blank paper, or with lines. For the 'b' and the 'i' draw three lines with a ruler and draw attention to the 'b' starting at the top, saying as you write, and repeating as your child writes...' start at the top, go all the way down, up on the line and around.' Use the ruled lines as a guide to neatness.  

 

Draw 5 little frogs - draw a circle and a slightly smaller circle overlapping (something like a figure eight, or a snowman) and add two googly eyes / draw or glue on two big eyes.  Then color the frogs green, cut out around the shape, or cut a square around the frog.  The idea is that you now have 5 frogs.  

Cut out and color a log (or get a stick from outside).  Color or use blue paper for the 'pool.' 

Sing this song as you, with your child, sets up the frogs on the log:

 

Count 4 remaining frogs sitting on the log (1,2,3,4)

4 Green and speckled frogs, sat on a speckled log...

Continue until there are no more speckled frogs.
