Garinim

Our last week together has flown by!!

This week we were all very busy preparing for our final day of school together. Many children were excited as well to talk about  the start of summer and some about returning to Ezra soon for camp!

The children spent most of this week putting the finishing touches on their popsicle stick photo frames, to which teachers later added a photo of them from the very beginning of the school year as a little surprise for them to take home on the last day of school. We hope you enjoyed the little reminder of just how small your child started out and how far they have come!

They also got busy wrapping and creating gift tags for their Father's Day gifts, which we hope you dads will enjoy on Sunday!

Throughout our short week we also practiced our songs for the last day of school celebration, though of course with moms and dads present, most of the children ended up a little star struck and forgot to sing!

Thursday was our last day of school and we began clearing the classroom shelves together. The children were hard at work Thursday morning scrubbing shelves and cubbies and tidying up our classroom, and helping to pack up all of their items to go home.

Then it was time for the main event- the end of year ceremony with our families, followed by ice cream! The children did an amazing job sitting nicely together and following directions, coming up when their name was called, and of course, being patient while waiting for the main event: the ice cream truck! Our celebration was a big success.

Thank you so much to all of the Garinim families for a wonderful school year!

Judaica: This was a really busy week! The children helped by dicing apples/tapuchim, mixing in cinnamon/kinumin, sugar/sukar and vanilla/vanil to make an apple crumble which they ate/ochalti for snack on Wednesday! We also enjoyed a book in Hebrew, Or Shoelet Ayfo/Or Asks Where. It’s a story in Hebrew about where animals live! We really did practice Shalom Chaverim for our Thursday moving up ceremony but they were too excited about the ice cream/glidah they were waiting to eat! Thank you all for sharing your children with us this year.

Alim

We had a great LAST week of school. :)

On Monday, we celebrated Taylor's summer birthday celebration.   All the children wished her many wishes for her soon to be birthday.   We enjoyed some yummy cupcakes and read a special book to the class.  Also, we made homemade playdough.

On Tuesday,  we started our kindness rocks.  The children thought of words to describe what kindness means to them.  Then we wrote it on the rock and decorated it.

On Wednesday,  we had a silly sock day.  The kids enjoyed showing off their silly socks to one another.  Also, we finished our Father's Day Gift.

On Thursday,  it was our end of the year celebration.  The children did an amazing job.  I hope everyone has a wonderful summer.

Anafim

Woah, what a week!  We sure were busy this week.  We practiced our end of the year songs daily, both in the classroom and outside on stage with the rest of the Montessori classes.  We celebrated 3 (!) birthdays this week, which I must say is pretty impressive for a 4 day week.  It was so lovely to celebrate Alon turning 4, Sophie turning 5 and Jasper turning 4 with their families and of course a special treat every day.  Thank you so much for all those that joined us and for all the tasty treats.  In between all the celebrating we managed to finish our Father’s day cards and presents (hopefully you found the brown bag in your child’s belongings), worked on our end of the year pictures, and of course did a little work.  The energy level in our class was at its peak (thanks to the daily sugar and excitement) but we came together as a group many times and made lots of happy memories.

On Tuesday we enjoyed our last gym class for the year with Coach Oren and played one of our favorites, 4 corners.  The children loved trying to sneak around and trick Coach in what corner of the gym they were in.

The children enjoyed lots of free art this week as well.  Using some of the techniques they learned this year, from teachers and from their friends, to create beautiful pieces of art.  It was so inspiring to watch the children work together to create their pieces or ask a friend for a little guidance.

As we reflect back on this year, these children have grown tremendously.  We entered this classroom with so many not speaking or understanding English, some not yet using the toilet, a couple never having been cared for by anyone other than family, children not being able to identify their own written name, not being able to write their name, children not knowing letter sounds, numbers, etc, not knowing how to work out a problem for themselves, not knowing how to advocate for something they want a turn with and more.  All of the children in this class learned many of these skills and have grown in such huge ways.  To all those coming back to Anafim we can’t wait to help guide your child through so many more of these happy moments.  To all those that are moving on to other classrooms or schools, we wish you the best of luck and don’t forget to come visit!  Have a wonderful summer

Keshet

Oh my, oh my, oh my!!! It really is the end of this remarkable year in the Keshet class, and what a year’s it’s been! The children had a chance to say what they most enjoyed this year and they liked studying the human body, space, volcanoes, Hebrew, Charlotte’s Web, sewing, the 1000 Chain, The Hundred Board, The Stamp Game, the ocean, sharks, planting, Shabbat, Adon Olam…

This week we learned about the beach, shell classification;  bivalve and univalve shells, and identified shells found along the North Eastern seashore.

We counted in 2’s, 5’s (counting steps from the bathroom back to our classroom), made and wrapped the Father’s day gifts (hope you like them!), read a few good stories, including  ‘Shortie Trombone’ - thanks Sahar for your Birthday Book gift to our class.

We made a few additions to our Keshet City (recycled art 3-D mural) and packed up all our books, journals, dictionaries, siddurim… We reviewed English sight words and Hebrew familiar sounds and words, and visited Miss Susan in the first grade classroom!

We practiced our Keshet farewell song (a lot) and then performed for all of you, our lovely parents!

So long, farewell it’s time to say goodbye

We came and played and now it’s time to fly

So long, farewell goodbye and adieu

Adieu, to you, and you and you and you

So long, farewell our days were full of learning

From Hebrew to math our brains were always churning

So long, farewell we’re walking through the door

We write and read and ready for some more

So long, farewell Shalom, shalom, shalom

We hate to go but summer comes along

So long, farewell this year is at the end

We’re here to say goodbye to all our friends

Good-Bye!!!!!

And then there was ice-cream!

Happy Summer Vacation! And thank you all for a wonderful year!
