Well, well, well, another Ezra Channukah performance for the record, and well, WELL DONE to everyone and especially to the opening act... our little latkes and dreidels.  So proud of them!

We spent the week practicing for the show, decorating our rooms, your rooms at home (!) and putting together our magnetic channukiot - carefully counting out the magnets and making sure the shammash stood up taller than the rest.  You have all the fixings (candles included) for a festive celebration, including a dreidel, and for the children that were looking for the chocolate channukah gelt - sorry, I told them they could find beans in the pantry at home - does anyone still cook bean soup?! You can't sing about latkes without trying them, so of course we enjoyed a channukah party and as everyone turned up their nose at the mention of sour cream (no one wants sour anything) there was no sour cream, but there was apple sauce and even better, cinnamon and sugar.  

 

Next week is winter break and we wish you all a VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY with family, friends, fun, and for good measure, some sun.  

We will be back at school on Thursday, January 2 and have a new friend joining our class, and another little girl joining the Garinim group.

We are finishing up our last week of Chanukah here at school! We are very excited for our performance on stage for Wednesday night, which you now know that our songs are “Look at me, I’m a Chanukah latke”, and “Sov, Sov, Sov”. Thank you for those that were able to come and see us perform!
We created bingo dotter dreidels, easel painted Star of David, and finished painting our chanukiah’s that were sent home earlier in the week as family Chanukah gifts. We hope they proved to be a fun surprise!
At school, we practiced playing the dreidel game and the children have gotten very good at spinning the dreidel and all want it to land on Gimel!
An interesting Montessori activity that was presented this week were the knobless cylinders. We wanted to mention this in the newsletter, as we are always presenting Montessori activities, but this activity was given 100 percent attention from our class— everyone wanted to try! The activity is performed by the child sorting the cylinders from largest to smallest. Please take a look at some of our pictures from this week.
The books we read were “Chanukah Lights”, “The Great Hanukkah Party”, “Dinosaur on Hanukkah”.
