Grades 3-4: Week of 3/4/24

Students have been working very hard all of February on their Black History Month project where each had to research an African-American. They were also exposed to how to find a reliable source on the internet and make a bibliography.

This week in Art, the students learned about mosaics and began to make their own out of an unusual material - ask them what it is!!

This week in Music, we had game day in which the students used details and rhythms to make a rehearsed “dance” with everyone on their team. For example, if I gave someone a half note with an accent on it and a quarter note with a staccato, they could march two steps loudly and hop on the last note! We had a performance on the gong by Will, and our Mimi Award winners were Gilad, Zippy, and Hallel!

In Judaics, we briefly learned about Parshat Vayakhel and started to work on our Purim school play. In Hebrew, we were trying to use questions, family, and order of the day topics vocabulary during speaking activities. In a few weeks, we will be having a writing quiz on some of these topics. In February, during black history month, we learned about the Ethiopian Jewish aliya to Israel, after learning about famous Jewish American immigrants. Sometime soon, your child will need to research their family's immigration roots, either to Israel or to America. I hope that grandparents will be able to share some information about it.
