This Week in 7 and 8, April 29

Our 8th graders are in Israel! The whole elementary school met in the courtyard to sing HaTikva with the 8th grade and wish them N'siah Tovah!

In history we studied the Texas War for Independence, which included what happened at the Alamo.  We also started to learn about the Oregon Trail and the many American pioneers who crossed the wide prairies and daunting mountain ranges to begin a new life in the West.

In language arts we concluded our poetry unit.  Each student picked a song with poetic lyrics, which we discussed and then listened to each song to determine how well the melody matched the lyrics.  Needless to say, the lyrics and music of John Lennon and Paul McCartney were a favorite with several 7th and 8th graders.

The 7th graders started their ghetto newspaper projects and the 8th graders continued reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

We got two electric guitar performances in music class from Shai and Avi! We also played xylophones and our Mimi Award Winner was a person with great technique - that was Avi!

This week in art we drew a 3D illusion cube. It was pretty cool to see the optical illusion it created.
